HOUSING

Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez does not provide accommodation, but it has a network of contacts that look for a good place for students to rent, alone or in groups. If the student wants to live with a Chilean family, there is an agency that the university recommends, which works hard in order to find the best host families. For this purpose, the student and the Chilean family must fill out forms in which the preferences and needs of each one are established, in order to accommodate the student in a place where he or she feels comfortable. In either of the two modalities, neighborhoods near downtown are chosen, with good location and proximity to useful services, shops, clinics, and most importantly, to the route of the approach buses to and from the university campus.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

In Chile, most people use the “micro” to make short trips within the city. The micro is very popular and is the most common transport service. There are also “colectivos”, black cars with a sign on the roof, which make a fixed route and also have an economic rate. In addition, there is the metro, which works safely, quickly and cleanly. Recently Chilean people have begun to use Uber and Cabify, companies that have become very popular among its users for delivering good service. Taxis are often used in Santiago, but not in Viña del Mar or Valparaíso, because they are expensive. To travel to more distant cities, you may use a bus or even local flights, which bought in advance, are usually very cheap.
