Vision and Educational Model
We strive to offer a multidisciplinary education on an undergraduate and graduate level, with an aim to educate professionals of excellence in economics and public policy.
On a graduate level, we develop in-depth academic research that is relevant to public discourse. We are committed to making a contribution to society and attaining the necessary interaction between the public and private world.
In our commitment to shape multidisciplinary students with a comprehensive education from their early academic days, the professors of the School of Government offer undergraduate courses in diverse faculties at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, including two minor programs.
Since the creation of the Adolfo Ibáñez Foundation in 1951, which gave rise to the Valparaíso Business School, later to become Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, the mark of our institution has been its commitment to public affairs from the private world.
Pedro Ibáñez Ojeda (1913-1999), successful businessman, academic and Senator of Chile, was the first president of our foundation. The Pedro Ibáñez Ojeda School of Government was founded in October 2001 and began activities in 2002 with its first dean, Mr. Andrés Allamand, former Senator of Chile and former Minister of Defense. In 2008, Leonidas Montes became dean. He was succeeded by Ignacio Briones in June 2014.
