Dicta cursos a nivel de pre-grado, masters, MBA y Ph.D, en temas relacionados a Gestión de Operaciones, Logística, Optimización, Gestión de Precios (Revenue Management) y Gestión de la Cadena de Suministros. Ha sido profesor en los programas MBA International, Executive MBA, Advanced MBA, y Global Executive MBA for the Americas (en conjunto a UCLA), así como en el Magíster en Management, Doctorado en Ingeniería Industrial e Investigación de Operaciones, y en las carreras de Ingeniería Comercial e Ingeniería Civil Industrial.Su investigación se centra en la optimización y la investigación de operaciones con énfasis en gestión de recursos naturales -planificación de la cosecha forestal y operaciones mineras-. Su especialización es en el desarrollo de sistemas computacionales para el apoyo de toma de decisiones basadas en optimización y cómputos con grandes cantidades de datos.Cuenta con más de veinte publicaciones científicas a su nombre y ha participado en numerosos proyectos de investigación, incluyendo dos proyectos ANILLO (en calidad de director y sub-director), tres proyectos FONDECYT (como director), dos proyectos FONDEF (en uno de ellos como sub-director), un proyecto de colaboración con el Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), y dos proyectos INRIA. Ha sido profesor visitante del Georgia Institute of Technology, London School of Economics and Political Science y IBM Research. Además, participa regularmente de conferencias internacionales como INFORMS, IPCO, MIP, ISMP, SME, APCOM, entre otras. También trabaja activamente en proyectos de investigación en colaboración con las empresas Newmont Gold, Barrick Gold, VALE, y otras.Ha participado como miembro del consejo del programa doctoral en Management de la UAI (como subdirector y director interino), director de investigación de la Escuela de Negocios, y como miembro del Grupo de Estudio Ingeniería 2 de FONDECYT. Sus áreas de interés son: Investigación de Operaciones, Optimización, Gestión de Recursos Naturales, Minería, Planificación Forestal, y Gestión de Proyectos.
