José Luis Campos

Doctor en Ciencias Químicas
José Luis Campos obtuvo su Doctorado en Ciencias Químicas por la Universidad Santiago de Compostela, España en 2000, donde también obtuvo la Licenciatura en Química, especialidad industrial. Desde 2013 es profesor titular de la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Sus áreas de investigación se centran en tratamiento de aguas residuales y recuperación de recursos de aguas residuales. Experto en tratamientos biológicos, particularmente en la eliminación de nutrientes aplicando procesos avanzados, tales como sistemas granulares y el proceso Anammox. Sus áreas de especialidad se centran en minimizar el consumo energético de las plantas de tratamiento de aguas servidas, con el fin de disminuir sus emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y buscar fuentes de nuevos recursos hídricos con el fin de paliar la escasez hídrica asociado al cambio climático. Durante 12 años fue académico del Departamento de Ingeniería Química de la Universidad Santiago de Compostela en España, donde impartió clases para las carreras de Ingeniería Ambiental e Ingeniería Química, además del Magíster de Ingeniería de Procesos Químicos y Ambientales. Ha publicado más de 130 artículos en revistas indexadas –más de 70 en el Journal Citation Report- y 25 capítulos de libros. Es investigador asociado del Centro de Recursos Hídricos para Agricultura y Minería (CRHIAM). Ha realizado estancias de investigación en universidades chilenas e internacionales. Además ha impartido cursos de doctorado enfocados al tratamiento biológico de aguas residuales en Colombia y en Chile como en la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, donde fue nombrado Profesor Visitante. Es miembro del Consejo Consultivo de Expertos en Política Hídrica de la Región de Valparaíso y asesoró al UK´s Committee on Climate Change sobre cómo reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales.
