Claudio García Herrera es ingeniero civil mecánico y magíster en Ciencias de la Ingeniería por la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, y Ph.D. en Ingeniería por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Su trayectoria académica se ha desarrollado principalmente en el ámbito de la mecánica de sólidos, el diseño computacional y la simulación numérica, áreas en las que combina herramientas experimentales y computacionales para el estudio del comportamiento mecánico de materiales y estructuras. 

Sus líneas de investigación incluyen biomecánica cardiovascular, biomateriales, modelación numérica mediante métodos de elementos finitos, y simulación de procesos de fabricación, contribuyendo al desarrollo de modelos que permiten comprender fenómenos mecánicos complejos tanto en sistemas de ingeniería como biológicos. 

Previo a su incorporación a la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, desarrolló gran parte de su carrera académica en la Universidad de Santiago de Chile, donde fue profesor titular del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica y desempeñó diversos cargos de gestión académica, entre ellos la dirección del departamento y del programa de Magíster en Ciencias de la Ingeniería, mención Ingeniería Mecánica. Durante ese período, participó en múltiples proyectos de investigación financiados por agencias nacionales e internacionales, incluyendo iniciativas FONDECYT, FONDEF ANID y Horizon Europe, en áreas vinculadas a biomecánica, ciencia de materiales y simulación computacional. 

Actualmente cuenta con más de 90 publicaciones científicas indexadas en revistas internacionales, además de capítulos de libro y presentaciones en congresos especializados en las disciplinas mencionadas.
