En Chile, ha trabajado como profesor de las Universidades Alberto Hurtado (2004-2009) y Diego Portales (2017-2019). En el Reino Unido, ha sido académico de las Universidades de Warwick (2003-2004) y Lougborough (2010-2017). Actualmente, es Profesor Visitante en Pensamiento Social y Político de la Universidad de Loughborough e Investigador Asociado al Centro de Investigación para el Estudio del Antisemitimo Contemporáneo de Londres.
Es autor de 7 libros y más de 75 artículos y capítulos de libros, varios de los cuales han sido publicados en español, inglés, alemán, italiano y portugués. Sus principales temas de investigación son el nacionalismo, el humanismo, la secularización y el Antropoceno.

In the UK, he held academic positions at Warwick University (2003-2004) and Loughborough University (2010-2017). Currently, he is also a Visiting Professor of Social and Political Thought at Loughborough University and aResearch Fellow at the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemtism.
He is the author of 7 books and over 75 articles and book chapters, some of which have been published in Spanish, English, German, Italian and Portuguese. His main areas of research are nationalism, humanism, secularization and the Anthropocene.
