Her research focuses on applied public finance, with an emphasis on social and tax policies, and on the interaction between economics and psychology. She has been an elected director of the Latin American Economic Society LACEA and a member of various presidential advisory commissions, including the Presidential Advisory Council for Pension Reform and the Presidential Advisory Council against Conflicts of Interest, Influence Peddling, and Corruption. She chaired the Fiscal Advisory Council and the Unemployment Insurance Commission. She has also been a member of the Fondecyt Study Group on Economics and Management and a visiting researcher at the World Bank.
