Research at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez represents a central core of the institution. Through the investigatory work developed at the UAI, our university seeks to contribute to expanding the frontiers of knowledge in diverse areas at the national and international levels.
The reason why we generate this knowledge in the different areas and fields supported by our university is found in our students and our community. The research at the UAI is transferred to these groups, and contributes to academic growth and the development of society in public spheres. In this way, research at the UAI is valued not only due to the productive capabilities of its researchers, but also because of its social and educational impact.
In developing this work, our academics lead the way. These men and women, in addition to distinguishing themselves by the quality preparation of their students, possess the tenacity and personal characteristics necessary for carrying out the most diverse types of research. This research and its results nourish a scientific duty to the needs of our country and the world.
The investigative work done at the UAI is indeed diverse, not just in the areas tackled or level of development that mirrors that of the university; that said, all UAI research follows UAI values. This moral character and consistency throughout the university promotes the principles of liberty and responsibility.
In 2014 and part of 2015, our University undertook an auto-evaluation exercise as part of the Institutional Accreditation process. This included the areas of Institutional Management, Undergraduate Teaching, Graduate Teaching, Community Outreach, and Research.
As a result of this process, we were accredited in all areas – including research – for a period of 5 years. We are very pleased to certify that the growth of our university has had an impact as much on our teaching – which not only maintained its level of quality, but also increased in the number of students and programs – as on research. The results of this accreditation process show that, over the last decade, the university has had an elevated and accelerated development in research.
In order to strengthen and further develop quality, impactful research, our University has begun to implement a series of strategies that tend towards the promotion and support of the development of research activities by the entire university community, which continues to consolidate our institutional frameworks for research.
With the 2016 Research Incentive Programs, the University, through its Vice Rector of Academics, hopes to support both those who already develop research and those who are just beginning, and to generate a culture of research that integrates academics and students. In this way, this incentive program represents another step towards that which we hope to continue to perfect and develop in the coming years: integrating the entire UAI university community more and more, in order to produce new knowledge of quality and impact, for our country, and for future generations.
