Sus especialidades son estrategia global, gobierno corporativo global, instituciones.

Actualmente se desempeña como el Director Académico del programa CEMS Master in International Management. Es profesor de las cátedras de estrategia y análisis competitivo y estrategia global en programas de MBA, Magister, y Doctorado de la Escuela de Negocios UAI.

Sus investigaciones han sido publicadas en Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, y Journal of Management Studies, tres de las más prestigiosas revistas académicas en temas de management a nivel mundial. Sus publicaciones han obtenido importantes reconocimientos tales como 2016 International Management Division D’Amore-McKim School of Business, Northeastern University Best Dissertation Award (Academy of Management); 2016 Organization and Management Theory Best International Paper Award (Academy of Management); 2015 Jürgen-Hauschildt-Award of the Commission for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; 2017 Family Firm Institute Best Unpublished Research Award; 2015 International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA) Ph.D. Research Proposal Award; entre otros. Su investigación ha obtenido diversos fondos incluyendo el Fondecyt-Conicyt Iniciación en Investigación 2015 otorgado por el Gobierno de Chile.

Cuenta también con varios años de experiencia profesional en Chile y el extranjero, como ejecutivo de finanzas en empresas multinacionales y consultor estratégico para grandes empresas pertenecientes a la industria de la minería, retail, retail financiero, banca, y negocios agrarios. Es también graduado del programa de formación ejecutiva “Financial Management Program” de General Electric Co. con posiciones relacionadas con planificación financiera en Chile, Puerto Rico, y Brasil. (Ver CV completo


ABSTRACT

Patricio Duran has a PhD in Business Administration, International Business from Moore School of Business, U. of South Carolina, USA and he is Commercial Engineer from the Universidad de Chile. His areas of specialization are global strategy, global corporate governance, and institutions.

Currently, he is the Academic Director of CEMS Master in International Management. Patricio teaches competitive strategy and global strategy courses for MBA, Master and PhD programs.

His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Management Studies. His work has obtained several recognitions such as the 2016 International Management Division D’Amore-McKim School of Business, Northeastern University Best Dissertation Award (Academy of Management); 2016 Organization and Management Theory Best International Paper Award (Academy of Management); 2015 Jürgen-Hauschildt-Award of the Commission for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; 2017 Family Firm Institute Best Unpublished Research Award; the 2015 International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA) Ph.D. Research Proposal Award; among others. Additionally, his research has obtained several funds including the Fondecyt-Conicyt Initiation in Research 2015 granted by the Government of Chile.

Professor Duran has relevant professional work experience in Chile and abroad. He served as financial executive in multinational companies and he worked in strategy consulting for large companies in the mining, retail, financial retail, and agribusiness sectors. He is also graduated from the “Financial Management Program” at General Electric Co. (Full Curriculum)
