Renato Cabrera has served since 2006 in different positions and functions in the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at UAI. He is an undergraduate professor of project formulation and assessment, innovation and technological entrepreneurship and different workshops. In addition, he teaches in undergraduate and master’s degrees in the areas of innovation, technology-based business and technology watch. He has held the positions of academic secretary, executive director and director of the Civil Industrial Engineering program of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences. He is currently Deputy Dean of the Faculty at the Viña del Mar Campus.
Renato Cabrera’s professional career began in the private sector in engineering positions, such as director and manager. In addition to teaching at the UAI, Cabrera has also worked in other prestigious national universities, forming and implementing in one of them a Training Center for Business Managers, an incubator and a school of entrepreneurship, in the context of the creation of a technological development institute. Motivated by the technological business world, he participated in the creation of two startups, in one of which he was partner and manager until it was sold to an international company.
He has been an advisor and manager in the implementation of productive development projects in Chile. He also supported the IDB in Paraguay in the installation of program management capabilities to support small and medium enterprises. This led him to create and promote a center responsible for managing CORFO funds in the region of Valparaiso Chile. He has exposed in several countries on the intervention model for the productive development of territories from academia and public-private initiatives carried out under his management.
